Talk golf in Scotland and Gleneagles is always part of the conversation. This legendary resort hotel almost defies description and has to be experienced to be believed.

Described as the "Riviera of the Highlands" and "the 8th wonder of the world" when it opened in 1924, Gleneagles continues to impress kings, movie stars, golfing legends and you!

The golf is heavenly: when Lee Trevino first played the King's Course at Gleneagles he said: "if Heaven's as good as this, I sure hope they have some tee times left!" On a long Scottish summer's day you could conceivably golf both the James Braid designed King's and Queen's Course and still fit in a round on the challenging PGA Centenary Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1993.

But then you wouldn't have time (you'd probably need a month to sample everything) for all of Gleneagles' delights. Still in golfing mode, the acclaimed Golf Academy is committed to breaking even the most recalcitrant of bad habits (and the homework's not bad either!) You can also golf most of Scotland's other classic courses within a couple of hours of Gleneagles.

Home of the British School of Falconry, the Gleneagles Equestrian Centre (which boasts a solarium for horses), the Jackie Stewart School of Shooting and Fishing, and two challenging off-road driving courses, Gleneagles takes play seriously.

Tired out from all that activity? Soothe those tired muscles at the Gleneagles Club and Spa or work out the kinks in the gym or an aerobic dance class. Or stroll around the spectacular gardens set in the rolling Perthshire hills.

Make sure you have a nap before dinner so you can do justice to the freshest of Scottish salmon and oysters, leave room for one of the one million (that's correct!) Scottish strawberries they serve each year. And then there's the single malts. Even if you're not staying in one of the suites designed and named after classic Scottish malts, you'll be able to sample from 50 malts on the after-dinner whisky trolley or savour Gleneagles' own 18 year old malt.

Holder of Five Red Stars, member of the Luxury Hotels of the World, and one of the Top Ten Hotel Restaurants in the World and Great Golf Resorts of the World, the staff-to-guest ratio at Gleneagles is 1:1. This is serious luxury and with The Links Club you can be there!
